FORUM Help 3: The Menu Bar

At the top of the Community space is the Menu Bar, which houses a list of functions for you to quickly go through your relevant information and get the content you need. These menu items provide quick access to a number of features in the CMC Community space.

    • “Home” button
      • This returns you to the main CMC Community page.
    • “What Matters: Activity” button
      • This button leads you to your own Activity page, where you can view all the recent activity in the CMC Community space.  You can either choose “All Activity” to view all activity that you are allowed to view, or “Followed Activity” to view only activity in spaces and groups that you are actively following.  To follow content, click the “Follow” button on the top right of the space (right across from the space name).
    • “What Matters: Communications” button
      • This button leads you to your Communications page, where you can see who has responded to your posts, any content that other members have shared with you, or any references, or mentions, of you in posts.  Also, this is where you can find any communications directed to you.
      • To mention someone, use the @ symbol in front of their user name, and they will be referenced. Note that this works for people in your friend network, or places you have visited.
    • “What Matters: Actions” button
      • This button leads to your actions page, where you will be updated on actions that you have done, need to do, or those actions that reference you.
    • “Browse” button
      • This drop down box allows you to browse through the contents of the CMC Community space. You can choose between browsing by content (eg. Discussions and documents), people, places or bookmarks.
    • “Create” button
      • This drop down box allows you to create content in a desired space or group.  It is recommend to use the activity widgets in a given space instead of this menu.
    • “History” button
      • Allows you to browse through your history of viewed content
    • “Bookmarks” button
      • Allows you to bookmark a particular piece of content for future review.
    • “Search” box
      • Allows you to search specifically for certain content.  Typing in the keywords will find all matching words that are visible to you.  Hence, if a space, group, or some part of the user profile is hidden, your search will not detect that particular content
