Quick Start Guide: Keysight Technologies' Design Software (2017 to 2019 Releases)

    This quick start guide applies to the Keysight Technologies' design software: Advanced Design System (ADS); GoldenGate RF IC design; SystemVue system design; Genesys RF synthesis; device modeller IC-CAP; model builder MBP; model quality assurance software MQA; and Electromagnetic Professional (EMPro) 3D simulator.

    Keysight Technologies also supplies multi-core simulations licensing for its MoM/FEM/FDTD solvers (*_pk8 features). 

    Full descriptions of these tools are available on the vendor's website, including hardware recommendations and compatible operating systems.

    Installing CADpass


    Windows: If you do not have CADpass installed, follow the instructions in the CADpass Quick Start Guide, which can be downloaded from:




    Keysight EDA software does not use a tunnelling driver as part of CADpass, but some of our other CAD do. Consult our CADpass quick start guide for more information about its installation. If you have other questions regarding these instructions, contact licensing@cmc.ca.


    LINUX: Refer to this document for setting up and running CADpass in LINUX environments.

    Installing Keysight EDA Software for the First Time

    Windows: When running the installation program for the first time, and you are using our LMS licence server system, do one of the following.

    • If you have no tunneling driver installed, specify the license server as: 6609@localhost
    • If you have a tunneling driver installed, specify the license server as: 6609@lmserver-4 with a lower-case 'L'

    Troubleshooting Your Installation


    If you are struggling with your installation, or find that you cannot connect to our licence server, please open a support case with us, and include information that will help us understand the issue: CAD tool name and release; your operating system; hardware specs. such as GPU type and/or RAM; and a description of your problem. You may also submit screen captures of error messages that are produced.
